THE IMPACT

The Sports boom in the 1920's was big for the American culture, and in a positive way. It was an outlet, a way of bringing different people together by mutual enthusiasm. People from all different walks of life could come together and agree on there favorite teams. It became a way of life. Now, for the average American, when you have free time you go watch Babe Ruth and the Yankees, or Benny Leonard knock the snot out of some boxer. And if you were a true fan, you could keep up with your favorite sport and specific athlete on the newly invented radio. These new sports also generated revenue. People would pay to see games, pay to get into these events, and the money helped the country's economy as a whole. Also, sports started integrating into schools, and high school and college sports came into being. This provides a means of expressing yourself as a kid, and allows you the opportunity to make it big in a sport. This was a period of time when people wanted to put the war behind them, and just enjoy life, and the new Sports craze was a perfect solution.
